A pretty freaky Zombie this week, some kind of Mutant Zombie. Originally made by Tengu Models, this mini is currently available through CP Models. I think this was the last of the pack that I had not yet painted (the CP versions are sold singly)
This isn't the mini I planned to do for this week's entry, but as I am still feeling only limited motivation for painting in general, I knew I didn't have enough time to finish the intended mini. Instead I set about doing some speed painting to clear this from the lead mountain, and thankfully got a quick win. That said, I did splash a little bit of acrylic paint on the next two weeks' minis too, so hopefully the final two for Zomtober 2016 will be less of a rush!
It is really cool to see other bloggers' posting their Zomtober stuff, following what started as a throwaway discussion a few years ago. Personally being involved helps me get focused on finishing minis, so I foresee myself Zomtobering for years to come!
Well that's weird.Looks good though.
ReplyDeleteYeah, weird is a word. Not a mini I would have bought as a single, but I am happy with how she turned out. :)
DeleteOh my, she's had a bad day! Fabulous job Sir.
ReplyDeleteThanks Michael. :)
DeleteA bad day is one way to put it!
Great work! Zombie is awesome!
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot Michal. :)
DeleteAwesome looking zed. I must check out these over at CP Models then.
ReplyDeleteCheers mate. :)
DeleteI have done a few of the Tengu/CP so far (some are under my Big/Boss Zombies tag).
Eep! Naked!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds a bit weird to say a naked mutant zed is lovely but I do rather like this one.
Cheers mate. :)
DeleteUGH!!! Great paint-job Leon, but what a gross-looking zombie. I want one :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Simon. :)
DeleteI am not sure I would have bought this as a single, but it is done. :)
Strangely disproportionate mini that works so well - nice (in a yucky way!)
ReplyDeleteThank you kindly. :)
DeleteGreat job there. Love the finished look.
ReplyDeleteThanks very much Mike. :)
DeleteA very weird looking zed, butsaved by your use of "mutant". I do like the skin colourings you've used.
ReplyDeleteThanks Zabadak. :)
DeleteThe skin recipe is my usual approach, based around VMC Green-Grey. :)
What a weird looking model, not really my taste but nicely painted!
ReplyDeleteThanks Wouter. :)
DeleteNot something I would have bought on its own, but it was part of a pack with minis I did want, so made sense to paint it. Eventually.... :)
I think the Zombie just encountered the BLOB! Alas, being already dead hasn't sat well with the BLOB! Very odd miniature!
ReplyDeleteVery odd indeed Terry. :)
DeleteNot something I would have picked up its own for sure, but that needed removing from the mountain of unpainted metal. :)
Those skin-tones remain some of my favs. You'll need to put up your recipe sir.
ReplyDeleteThanks very much Dai. :)
DeleteI tend to use Vallejo Model Color as follows:
Base of Green-Grey
Shade deeper areas with 1:1 mix of Green-Grey and leather Brown
Tidy up with Green Grey
First highlight with 2:1 Green-Grey and Basic Skin Tone (mix is thinned)
Second highlight of 1:1 Green Grey and Basic Skin Tone.
Sometimes I'll use GW Devlan Mud or AP Soft Tone for extra shading.
I'm giving this a go - thanks muchly!
DeleteHope it helps Dai. :)
DeleteWell last week Michael Awdry posted his "Princess Leia" zombie and I SAID "You still would, wouldn't you?", I'm not gong to say that here!
ReplyDeleteNice paint work but one messed up young lady mate!
Cheers Roger.
Thanks Roger. :)
DeleteProbably the weirdest Zombie in my collection for sure. :)
That is one freaky looking zombie. Very well done.
ReplyDeleteThanks very much Finch. :)
DeleteWhile everything looks good, I especially love the skin tones you achieved. It's a good figurine too seeing that you can tell she was previously beautiful but not so much now.
ReplyDeleteThanks very much FourEyedMonster. :)
DeleteI risked brighter highlights on this one and I think they worked.
